The question of "Have You Read the Bible"

  • Many times when I talk to someone and I can see that they are in a state of unrest and confusion I ask them " have you read the bible" the most common answer is "the bible is not real" or "the bible is fake".

I then say "I did not ask you if the bible is real I just asked if you have read it".  This usually brings about a confused look and I ask "Why would you defend yourself against the bible by saying it is not real, if you say it is not real then what is there to fear or defend against".  This results in a pause of silence.

I then ask again if they have read the bible and usually the answer is "no why would I read a book that is fake".  I then ask "have you read books that are fiction" and the answer is almost always yes.

I then say " I have read the bible and believe it to be very well worth reading, and how is you saying that you believe it to be fake a reason for you not to read it, perhaps you should try reading it and you will find out for yourself what it is".  This results in a pause of silence.

I then ask if they believe in God and almost all say yes.  I then say perhaps you should read it for yourself and make your own decisions.

At this point you can see the contemplation going on in there head and I leave at that.  The seed has been planted.

Our Lord teaches us to work in a spirit of humility.  I believe it would be foolish to think that the devil would not also do the same in order to deceive.  Perhaps the quick response to declare the bible as fake is the work of the devil for the sake of discouraging the conversation.

We know that to present God to those that do not know god is the right thing to do.

James 4:17 - Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.

Let us also keep in mind that to do nothing when we know we may be able to help others because of the risk against us, that, we may well be in contradiction to James 4:17.  Do not take this wrongly for if you do something that shortens your life then you are also limiting the good you can do in this life.

I kindly and humbly thank all that take the time to read this and encourage all your responses to what I have wrote to be posted.

May all in the world be blessed, may peace be with you.

Bishop Ralph Vendegna S.O.S.M.A. I am glad to see that this posting is really making the rounds to get people to understand and use some common sense. God gave us brains to use properly, not act stupid and ridiculous and make such dumb excuses. Those that refuse to acknowledge it the Aut...  more
