The Many Who Got Away

  • Someone here posted a comment about a recent (?) Kate Perry video "The One that Got Away". I am not too hip on modern pop culture, but i know who she is, and i have seen some of her other work and liked it, so i checked it out.

OUCH. MANY years ago, after my first divorce, the first woman with whom i became seriously involved died in a car crash (while i was working) the same evening that she had told me that she was ready to move in with me and would be there that night. I didn't find out until a few days later why she didn't show and why i couldn't reach her, and when i did find out i was not able to publicly mourn her loss for reasons that are too complex to share in this small space.

Needless to say, this video brought up some VERY painful old memories, but it also FORCED me to remember her, at least for a while.

I would not trade my current relationship for anything, but i do still honor the place that remains in my heart and mind for all of those who came before. Most are still with us, and of them most are also now happy in their own relationships. As the song says... "To all the girls i ever loved before..."

Barbi Durci, you are still remembered, missed, and loved.

radar pangaean MA: I appreciate the wishes, but i should have been more clear. Yes, it was painful at that time... even more so because of the additional complexity not provided, but it is long past. I've enjoyed many other close relationships, been through a few marria...  more

Rev. Suzanne Ranu So true radar they may be gone but they are always in your mind and heart and that is the best way to honor them.
