Reflections of Esther

    Reflections of Esther

As I watch Drum Line, I see these strong actors and actresses play roles of culture.  It is amazing how we can use movies, music and experiences in our society to explain or be illustrations of unknown realities and sub consciousness messages.  I watch this movie and meditate on the scripture thinking about how all of these drummers in the band play a role.  Each person yet all working together yet holding diversity in their form, but still completely separate but equal.  They remain as a collective learning one message, sharing one story, yet each person carry their own story.  It is amazing when I dream about Esther how she had been in poverty, and from leaving her own life as a niece, she turns into a queen.

Her impact on society changed from no one listening to her and then one day she wakes up, and everyone is now listening.  Even depend on her decision to speak to the king on the behalf of their survival. Queen Esther is disputed because she is just a mere woman.  She did not come into the world with power, privilege and sophistication.  She did not have any education or background of higher learning, yet she found her way at the top of the throne making policies, changing the world for her people.  She was just a tiny moment in time.  Some argue this story is nothing more than a figment of our imagination, a fairytale for children like Cinderella and Snow White, Esther would be one of the women that is not real but a symbol of hope that women could rise to such an occasion rather than men only.

I suppose if the spirit was speaking, as Jesus spoke when he said, that those who entered into the universe, kingdom of God would be the least of these.  It would be evidence that those who held very small positions here in this age would hold greater positions of privilege and power in the universe.  It is hard to imagine the opportunity to be a CEO of a universal company.  It is hard to imagine in becoming in any stewardship of a grand plan of species beyond billions in years.  It is beyond my mind to imagine a world that a small child especially one girl could stand in the face of time to change and save a people from a small decision as to saying, yes Lord.

Who are we to believe in something as such a report?  This inspiration we call the bible.  Shakespeare has been such an inspiration and still to this day we use his inspiration to write excellent literature.  In our hearts, we continue to pray that people would inspire us to transform and lead in equality and duality that we might see the passing away of death and pain.  In hope that these fairytales we call figments of our imagination were infinity and immortality trying to pierce our souls, mark it for an interview with the Eternal.
