Jesus accepts everyone

I have several people who telling me that God won't accept them. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. By this everyone who believes in Jesus Christ is accepted into heaven so I don't understand people telling me they can't be accepted.
