Word Become The Man

  • Word Become the Man

If you don’t believe that what you say shapes a person, think again.  What you say will most often be what you have to contend with from others.  Our words shape the character of those whom we live and fellowship with.  The devils greatest tactic is to get you to first believe that he doesn't exist, then to cause you to speak words in your life and others in your life that will destroy the spirit and calling that God placed in you and them.  Here is what the word of God says about words.

Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.  We all stumble in many ways.  If anyone is never at fault In  what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check.

When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal.  Or take ships as an example.  Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.  Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.  Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.  The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.  It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue.  It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness.  Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.  My brothers, this should not be.  Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?  My brothers can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?  Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.

                                                              James 3:1-12

The next time you talk about a person, say something bad about them or to them.  The next time you ask yourself things like why do my children disrespect me.  Or why can’t I get my spouse to stop doing what they are doing.  The next time we find ourselves losing ground in our faith, family and finances.  Think about the words you have been speaking.  Are they words of faith, hope and love or are they words that are negative, defeating and lacking in faith.  God can’t bring prosperity to your life if you don’t speak words that raise a person up.  If you don’t speak good things into your life and into the lives of those you say you love, then how can they ever become manifest?  If God had to speak words to create this world, why would you not think this would not be necessary for you?  When God speaks, something always happens.  If we are made in his likeness, this holds true for us as well.  So be careful what comes out of your mouth to others and to yourself.  You might just bring to life something you don’t want.
