What is “To Wait Upon the Lord”

  • What is “To Wait Upon the Lord”

    Verse:

Isaiah 40:31 “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not grow weary, and they shall walk and not faint.”

What does it mean to “Wait upon the Lord”? There are many definitions that have been brought to my attention. But there is one that makes the most sense to me.

To me, waiting on the Lord means to give all my issues or problems to the Lord. I have found that when I start my day with just a simple prayer letting God know that I appreciate Him give me another day, and just asking Him to help me figure out how to get through the daily things that I need to do, things just seem to go easier for me during that day. Now that is not to say that there are no trials or things that irritate me, it just means to me that I have someone there that knows everything that is going on in my life.

Give it a try today, just close your eyes and tell God what you have planned today. In “Waiting upon the Lord” in this way you will feel less stressed and will get through the day without being so wiped out when you’re ready to go to bed.
