The homeless man

  • A young boy walks with his mother one sunday afternoon, with their hands held as two. As they walked, the little boy saw the park across the street and begged his mother to go. So, as they walked through the park, they laughed and joked about their busy day, and visualized images in the clouds together. They soon came upon a man... with a face struck of hunger, and a body of weakness from old age. The little boy looked his mother in the eyes with the most depressing and serious look. "Mommy, why does that man cry? Will he be alright?" The mother smiled, knowing her baby didnt yet understand the torments of life. She kneeled down, and said to him, "Go ask him, and give him this here dollar so that he may eat..." So the little boy listened, and walked over to the man, and sat beside him on the bench. "Mr.? Are you ok? Me and mommy saw you crying." The man lowered his head for a moment, and then turned to the boy. "I sit here day and night praying for someone like you to come speak to me... yet they never do. My wife and daughter died in a plane crash, and after that day i gave up. I simply felt no hope, and now i sit here... waiting for someone to come give me hope and hold their hand out to let me know that there is a reason for my existance. People pass me all the time, and not one of them will look me in the eye, or give me the time of day. You, my son, have set me free... and all you had to do was make me feel noticed."

This story came to me today, while i was driving. I always see these people living on the street, and constantly pushing a cart to relocate so that they may sleep agian, possibly. It guts me every time. The purpose for this story was to teach everyone that though we are better off, we are still no different. We are all one in the eyes of "GOD". So what is it going to take to get people to lend a helping hand to those in need? Never turn from those less fortunate than you. Feed them, clothe them, comfort them... for it could be you in need one day, and dont you hope that the same will be done for you?
