i get tired of people saying "he is the reason for the season" actualy, he's not. He is the excuse the Catholic church used to make a winter celebration to turn the Pagans from their Gods to the Catholic/Christian "God".
the Catholic church way back when were fighting to convert the pagans and so decided to celebrate Jesus's birthday (a really cool individual who had no PROBLEMS with the Pagans by the way) shortly after the winter solstice. changed it JUST enough to make the conversion easier.
a freind of mine is a Messianic Christianity, she is researching her faith, one of the things she found was that Jesus was born round aug-oct. time frame.
by the way? all the Christians that are putting up Christmas tree's? yeah, thats a PAGAN thing, as are easter eggs for Easter. there are a WHOLE lot of Pagan clebnrations & traditions that Christians seem to think are theirs. while i really don't care what or how you clelebrate, be HONEST about it!!
i find the churchs doing "trunk or treat" or having "harvest festivals" ironicly hysterical. to me it's like starting a forest fire to make sure a fire doesn't start. hope that makes some small bit of sense.
as good as your intentions are, you are celebrating Pagan things. change the name all you want, it's still Pagan in origin. i just feel if your going to cop to something, do it honestly or don't waste your breath and my time. whats more how can some Christians look down on Pagans and or treat them like crap? when they themselves are celebrating in Pagan ways?
in the end , your GOD, knows what lies within your heart.
it is nice to see folks be nice to each other but why only now? i try all year long to be DECENT to folks..this world mess's with my head sometimes lemme tell ya!
i am not intending to tick anyone off. this was to vent because certain paths(PEOPLE) are so danged hypocritical it's insane.
anyway, whatever you celebrate, do so HONESTLY and JOYFULLY!!
