Hesperus Revisited

  • When I go for a walk in the evening hour

There are things that I see and hear.

If I go for a stroll as the sun goes away

I relax as the nighttime draws near.

    It's a wondrous time, it's just right.

Such a peaceful feeling it brings.

As the moon grows bright ‘neath the new starlight,

There’s a song that the nightingale sings.

It's the end of a day that was given to me.

It’s a gift that I truly hold dear.

While recounting, reflecting, and strolling along,

The darkness now fills me with cheer.

So I'll walk in the twilight, taking it in.

There is peace in this time that is tranquil.

It’s food for a spirit that’s weary and thin.

‘Tis a time for which I am thankful.~Jay  Olson
