Taking the Scenic Route

  • This is the place that I have taken my rest--this is where my head doth lie. My mind has taken vacation but my spirit has learned to fly. I have left my body behind me; along with its aches and its pain. I might be gone for a little while but I will return again like the rain. It may be a long way until tomorrow--wherever tomorrow may lie. Today is fast becoming a memory in my very own mind and its eye. It seems like millenniums since I've walked in the fields--the fields of yesterday's dream. As my spirit continues it's journey my body is drifting down stream. Drifting toward daylight in the middle of darkness--flying alone in the night. Spending my arms like the wings of a dove--everything feels just right. Nothing to the right of me nothing to the left--it is empty above and below. Things that were traveling faster than light now are moving ever so slow. The wind does not blow here, the rain never falls--the sun does not radiate heat. The clock remains frozen, time stands so still--the hungry are fed but don't eat. It's a long way to heaven and paradise fields--it is a long way to however you go. There is no need in rushing to get where I'm headed--I may as well just travel slow.~Jay O.
