If it Weren't for Sundown it would Never get Dark

  • As darkness settles in and silence fills the void--I bid farewell to the day. Seemingly effortless the day becomes a memory slowly slipping away. Stardust and moonbeams cover my weary face--waves of sleep are the tide. No longer awake or able to see the last vestige of yesterday's ride. Lying in comfort on this winters eve--I stretch upon my bed. Pulling the quilt to cover me--I fluff the pillow beneath my head. Thunder rolls across the sky on this dark and windy night. The moon is full, but hidden--not a creature is in sight. Oreo cookies swimming in milk by a beach filled with blue M&Ms. Crackerjack bushes with peanuts and salt--with red licorice vines as their stems. Chocolate cocoa with marshmallow topping are things that run through my head. I am never afraid of the darkness while lying here, snug, in my bed. I welcome the sleep which knocks on my door like a trusted and long lost friend The day has been long and filled with trials--I thought it might never end. Tonight I will sleep beneath the sky--the Stars twinkling beneath the moon. I will dream the dreams of times gone by--a new day will be here soon.~Jay O.
