A few Memorial Day Thoughts

  • Letters From Home.... The things that came at mail call with news that was often old. The news in familiar handwriting--more precious than any gold. A package filled with cookies or some other type of treat. Were fun to pass around the room--were wonderful to eat. The pictures that were sent with love could take away the pain. Those pictures filled my mind with sun and washed away the rain. It never ceased to be a thrill when letters would arrive. They made the time seem worthwhile--and good to be alive. Tucked beneath the pillow or kept inside the bed, Things that came at mail call were bound to be re-read. The packages arrived each day and brightened up our lives. Some were sent by moms and dads and some by loving wives. Sometimes I wonder to my self if mail call was actually real. Was it just something that I dreamed? Or was it the real deal? Whatever answer that I find, there is one thing I will say; A message that comes from loved ones, will brighten up your day.~Jay O.
