When I was just a young boy.
When I was just a lad.
Tom Sawyer was my hero.
Second only to my Dad.
I loved to do the same things,
That ole Tom liked to do.
Catching fish and kicking around.
Sometimes even skipping school.
I took my playing seriously.
Twas like a job to me.
I never missed a day of work.
You could always count on me.
I never knew what happened,
To Tom, my childhood friend.
He’s faded into history.
Good things sometimes end.
The things Tom taught me still remain.
They still remain today.
