Be A Solution Not A Resolution

  • It is the beginning of the New Year 2013. It is a time of potential, of new beginnings. The end of the hectic holiday season is over and spring is just around the corner.

Many of us have in the past made resolutions to do something. We say we'll do this, we'll do that. We'll finally go on that diet, take up some exercise, do better at work or at home, study harder for our ministries. Promises, promises.

When we make resolutions we should write them down as re-solutions because that's all they are, something we need to solve again. But what are we actually doing to make and be the SOLUTION? Imagine if Sherlock Holmes had merely resolved to crack the case without putting in the serious follow-through; he wouldn't have solved anything. Re-solutions fail because we don't act on them, we don't seriously commit to them and we don't put ourselves in action.

Quit resolving, therefore, and SOLVE it. Write it down like a fresh challenge, make a plan of action, and get moving! Keep the solution from losing fire by periodically checking in on it to see if you're feeding your passion to overcome any challenge. You need to feed fires or they go out. If a solution isn't working, look it over again and rework it with a new perspective.

    Solve, Don't Resolve.

    Yours in Faith,

    Rev K Hyler DD OCC
