What Makes This Fair?

  • Ok the other day me and my wife was driving down the road and saw this S.U.V. and on the side it had a sign that read,"Sams Souvenirs" and under it it said they have indian artifacts....We decided to go look to see what he was selling and it made us ill, he had old jewelry, arrowheads, and other things that was plainly not theirs to sell. My thing is why is it ok for anyone to walk onto a old native american indian mound (burial place) and dig to find things so they can sell them, keep them and collect them. Isnt that a form of grave robbing? I mean why would anyone go and dig for these things...Native American beliefs are that if you find it just walking around and its ontop of the ground then thats considered a gift from the elders but to dig for it then you are robbing them. Can I go into a graveyard and dig up someones grave and take stuff from them...NO! and I would never even think about it so then why is it ok for anyone to do the same thing to the native americans. Remember they was here way way before we was and I think we should respect them and stop tearing down their mounds to build parking lots or stores. Its all about respect people...we were taught it when we was young and this is in no way respect as far as I see it.

I agree with you totally. It is a shame, criminal and disrespectful to constantly tear down Native American graves in any fashion.
Unfortunately, there have been grave robbers about as long as there have been recorded history of graves...  more
