We had an election yesturday in Davenport Iowa to elect new city officials and such. The govenor who won is against same sex marriages and is planning on having the law changed. As of now same sex couples can marry in Iowa, I have performed quite a few so far. I have several friends that are in same sex relationships. I myself is straight, but do not frown upon the other individuals, I feel they have the right to have the same rights as the rest of us. Some may disagree and that is fine, this topic in itself seems to be as sensitive a subject as abortion and the death penalty. I am against the government trying to legalize their discrimination against these individuals. So therefor I have decided to do a Mass Wedding before the new govenor takes office, in a way to protest his desision, and to give these individuals the opportunity to have their voices heard. My idea is to have this documented by the local news and newspapers, to get the point across, and to provide these individuals with the oportunity that many of us straight couples have. I am hoping and praying that this event will make it to where this govenor cannot change the law.
I am open to opinions and suggestions on this, as this event will be my first. Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
