A Childs Eyes

  • A letter to the followers of Christ

The following parable is a form of charades in which a child and an expert describe an object. The task is for you to determine what is being described. The lesson of the parable will be in the form of a question later in this text.

An expert is handed an object and asked to describe it. “The object is cold and hard. By weight it is worth more than gold. Men have died to find it and have been killed to own it. It is coveted by both women and men. Industry cannot function without it. It can be purchased in most cities of the world”.

Now it is the child’s turn. The child’s eyes sparkle with wonder. The object is held high to catch the light. A rainbow of colors is displayed. From the child’s mouth comes a sound like the cooing of a dove. Its smooth cold surface is put to the lips. It has no taste. Although it is comforting to hold, the object is soon given back in favor of a different toy.

The object is of course a diamond. The purpose of this parable is for you to decide which description of the object is the one that God would prefer?

Apply this lesson to the message of Jesus. Organized religion of all denominations, have put the Bible under a microscope. It has been analyzed and studied since before it was assembled into the form we recognize today. The words are cold and the message is hard. The point of this exercise is that most Christians have been so corrupted by the teachings of the Church that they cannot think for themselves. They read the Bible and remember what the Sunday school teacher told them that it means. From the letters of the Apostles until this day, the words of God and Jesus have been translated, changed, edited and interpreted to reflect the imperfection of the authors. God had a reason for only writing the Ten Commandments. And there was a reason that Jesus didn’t write anything. Read what God and Jesus said. Jesus often spoke in parables, understood by some and confusing to others. God intended for the meaning to be different for each person. That is because God has a different plan and purpose for each of us. Don’t rely on the Pastor of your church to tell you what the Bible means.

In my opinion, the child’s description is the one that God would prefer. After all, we are all God’s children. Our relationship with God is that of a naughty child and a forgiving parent. And like any parent God wants us to be happy. So be happy and try to be good. When you stumble ask God for help, when you miss-behave ask God for forgiveness.

Try to obey the Commandments that God gave you and enjoy the world that God made for you.

    Mark 10:15

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

May God bless you and comfort you.
