Topic: Do not be afraid to heed Gods call.

  • 1. Don’t be afraid to do what He tells you to do.
    Read Mark 16 : 4--8

    Lets re-read verse seven again,
7But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. you notice the words .

“But go your way--”. These four words mean a lot. The angel of the Lord told Mary the mother of James and Mary Magdalene to go and tell the disciples what they had witnessed and that Jesus would meet them in Galilee.
But go your way-- The Lord spoke to my heart when I was reading this passage the other day. He said there is message here that you need to preach about . Listen to these words But go your way --
How many of you here know how to get back to the college. But, I bet you someone here knows a faster way. And maybe your way is not his way but never the less you both still reach the same destination. A-men!!
“ But go your way “ The angel of the Most High is telling them to go the fastest way possible to tell the disciples.
“ But go your way “
Further more my way is not your way, my calling is not the same as your calling !!
    Read ephesians - 4:11-12

11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ

Lets get back to the text at hand.

Did they go and tell what they had seen with there own two eyes?
No!! They did no such thing for they were too afraid to tell anyone.

Read verse eight .8And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulcher; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

As I read this text I could imagine two ladies stumbling one over another trying to get out of the tomb. Why, you might ask yourself were they so scared . It was only an angel from God that had spoken to them.
They walked with the Son of God, so don’t you think that maybe Jesus had to mention angels at least once in His ministry. Not just that Jesus told them that this was going to happen. John 14 : 27--29

27Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

A . Don’t be afraid when God tells you to do something.
    Second Timothy 1 : 7
7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    B. Don’t be afraid of His calling .
    Second Timothy 1 : 9
9Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

    Don’t be afraid to listen
    2. Listen

    Mark 16 : 9 --13

When Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene He told her to go to the disciples and tell them that He was resin and He is coming. She didn’t listen the first time through an angel that spoke for the Lord. For she had a spirit of fear upon her. But God who is are strength knew that she needed an scourging word.
For our strength is not enough as it says in Psalm 46:1 -4

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
    2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
    Selah

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

He is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble.

Do you think the disciples believed her? -------- No ,they did not they heard what she had to say and still didn’t believe. She was rejected!!
In verse 12 and 13 you read that Christ appeared to two of His disciples who walked with Him . They also went back and told the other nine . Did the other disciples believe there word?--------- No , they did not and more over through their unbelief the two that told them what they had saw doubted there selves.

The other day at work I walked through the doors of the restaurant and heard a loud buzzing noise. I have heard that sound before it was the sound of the quere the microwave going off . You see I work at McDonalds a very , very busy store. I went around back to the kitchen to open the door and silence that annoying loud buzzing sound. As I reached for the handle to open the door , my hand stopped . God was showing me something. So I stood back and watched to see how long it would take for someone to open the door. I looked around the kitchen and there was six people back here. Each one was doing their assigned tasks and working very hard at it. You know what happened? No one opened the door. God showed me right then and there, that we can be doing a good job in the ministry . But still not listening to Him.

If the disciples would have listened to Jesus when He told them that this had to come to pass.
    Read John 14:28-29

28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

If they would have listened the first time. They would have rejoiced when Mary told them what she had saw. More over they would have shouted praises when the two disciples told there story. But they didn’t.
Praise His name that we have a Savior that still uses a sinner like me to preach His Word. Even though I didn’t listen the first time He called . I thank God that he never gave up on me . In verses 14 and 15 in the text we read that He didn’t give up on His disciples either. He rebuked them but still used them. Praise God He still does that today.

    A. Listen when God speaks to you or shows you something.
    1 Samuel 3 : 9

28Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

    B. Be ready to hear God.
    Ecclesiastes 5 : 1

1Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
