Acts of random kindness

  • Acts of Random Kindness
Tonight I took my fiance out on our regular Friday night date. We first went and got my paycheck, cashed it then went out to dinner. After dinner we went out to the movies where we watched Evan Almighty. In the movie Evan runs for congress and runs under The Change the World campaign. He wins and his whole world changes.
God (played by Morgan Freeman) gets involved in his life and tells Evan you want to change the world right. Evan answers yes and God tells him that the way to change the world is by practicing Acts of Random Kindness one at a time. This caused me to do some thinking. You can change the world by practicing acts of random kindness one at a time. That means that you don't stop with one act of random kindness. This is to become a part of your daily life if you want to change the world.
In the movie Evans wife is about to leave him because of the changes in Evans life. This caused me to think even further. There are many people who are afraid of change and will leave as soon as they see change taking place. I remember when I began changing in my life. People were afraid of me because of my reputation. They were afraid that if they disrespected me or someone that I love they would end up paying a heavy price. I was full of anger, hatred and violent rage. When I began to change people started taking my kindness for weakness and tried to take advantage of me. I had to show them that I was being kind but not weak.
When you practice acts of random kindness on a regular basis people will take you for a weak person. People will try to take advantage of you. That is okay though. We live in a world where people look at life for what they can get. We live in a world where dog eats dog is the main philosophy for so many people. If you are not practicing acts of random kindness with a pure heart; if you are not seeking gain and if you are not seeking acceptance from others you will be blessed and will help change this world.
Now imagine if a hundred, a thousand, a million people are practicing acts of random kindness on a regular basis the changes that could be made. I am not the same person as that violent anger and hate filled person of yesteryear because of people who practiced acts of random kindness in my life. They helped change my world and in turn helped make this world a better place not just for me but for many people who would have felt my wrath. Not only that but because they changed my world and helped make this world a better place I have helped others make their lives better. That would not have happened if I was still the same person of yesteryear. I have said many times before that if you move one grain of sand this world will never be the same. If you help change one life this world will never be the same. Do you want to change this world for the good? Will you join with me in practicing acts of random kindness on a regular basis? Together we can make this world a better place to live.
