Faith, Belief and Contridiction

  • To start I would like to say that I am not posting this to offend anyone. This is my point of view only.

This Morning my Wife and I ( Cindy ) had a discussion over coffee @ 0600 UGH..on Sunday .....really?

Our discussion was about Christians ( Clergy in point ) but I believe it fits all Christians, and I'm sure many other Faiths and beliefs as well. When does it fall within our Faith to Kill? Does it ever? My opinions and thoughts are from my Christian Belief. Cindy as being of a more Aboriginal belief system has a different view point than I which makes our conversations on belief and Faith shall I say ...Interesting as well as educational on both sides. When or if to Kill.....I have seen comments on this site regarding the wrong of killing Morally and due to Religious belief. How War is wrong and how wrong it is to kill as a Soldier. So I begin....When God directed Moses to Pharaoh The Lord says  " I will go about midnight throughout Egypt and Every first born Son starting with the Son of Pharaoh will die" Then you will know that the Lord makes distinction between Egypt and Israel "  Exodus 11.  And it was so! " See I have delivered Jericho into your hands "  they devoted the City to the Lord and destroyed with a sword every living thing in it, Men,Women, young, old, cattle, sheep and donkeys" Joshua 6. Lets not forget Sodom and Gomorrah and the 40 years wandering the desert in order to see if the Israelites would honor their Covenant with God. Then the Death Penalty for the crime of Murder as an atonement for killing the image of God. Now the Terms " Army of God" " Gods Armies" ok.....Now God as I see it directed His people to Kill in order for His People ( Israelites ) to be able to Believe in Him and live by His Laws by His Command and their Free Will to do so. So, if Killing was allowed for those reasons then, What about Now? The Armies now may Not be called " Gods Armies " But the Soldiers of this Country ( The US ) fight and kill to protect the Constitution and out of necessity to protect a Nations way of life and the Freedom to do so. Seems to me that God directed the Israelites to Kill to protect their Nation and the Freedom to Believe and Practice their belief in Him. Our Soldiers fight to do the same for us as well as aide other improvrished Countries to have the ability to do the same. Though I am not to sure about the later. So When I pray daily I have to pray for the Armies, Both Gods and My Countrys, because I am free to believe as I wish and practice it with the Freedom to do so........And the Great thing about that is, So is everyone else, no matter what they believe in.......Blessings all..........

Rev. Suzanne Ranu We all have to decide what is right and what is wrong. Would I go out and kill someone just to kill, "No" I would not. Would I kill to protect my family or myself from being killed the answer is "Yes". I know I would be forgiven by God for killing in ...  more

Tom Asdell As a wiccan, I've only got the one commandment "Harm none", and that would seem to indicate that killing is wrong. However - it is not possible to live up to the command, by either existing or ceasing to exist, something is going to be harmed.....  more
