The Greatest Stories Ever Told....

  • First of all, this blog is my point of view on the topic I chose to write about. I am sure that a lot of folks here will disagree, some might agree, yet that is life as we know it. Like myself, I'm sure that most of us here were told stories of how we came to be. How the Earth came to be spinning around in this vast Universe, whether we were told these stories by our Parents, Sunday School or weren't told them, but began reading of them when we were old enough to read and get some understanding of what we were reading. We all however have come to understand that within our belief system, that these stories are very old. So old indeed that when originally written, they were either on stone, scrolls, papyrus, hieroglyphs or just spoken stories, passed down from generation to generation and so on. We all know that a story is an accounting of either factual events that have happened to the best of the tellers ability. They can also be a story of fiction, not real yet, can be fun to read. In the realm of Religion, Spirituality and other belief systems they are stories of how life here came to be.

On this site, for example, there are better than 31,000 members. Those numbers represent people with belief systems in place. If I am not mistaken one must be at least 18 years of age to join and/or become ordained as Ministers of what belief system we choose. So in that sense, should be old enough to determine in their own minds what they believe in. Also on this site I have noticed a couple of things. Most of us here have Story books we tend to try and follow, The Bible, The Koran, The Torah and so on. They tell of the Creation of our Planet and Life upon it. Other belief systems have similar stories. My Wife and I have had many discussions about each others Creation Stories..... Her being Aboriginal Native, Her stories take a different shape than mine do, yet there are similarities as the stories progress. I have also found that people of Faith no matter what Faith, see it differently. Some may take a more passive approach to the writings, meaning, they read, perceive, and take it as " ok, this happened and that happened from the beginning of time until about 2000 years ago, the World was new, the Creator brought Life to it and through Natural procreation the population grew. In some cases life came from the Stars, or are Alien in Nature. Whatever the case may be, the Creator or Creators set forth certain laws for those who worship or follow them. Kind of like Directions as it were, of how to have a society that can get along and prosper as well as share a cohesiveness or bond that holds us all together.

There are also those who take every word of their Religious/Spirituality guide book very literally, like word for word literally. Where every sin is a damnation, and it seems like a great many things that most of us do every day is a sin. If we look at someone of the opposite sex and say " that person is pretty" ...Lust.... if we tend to eat to much....Gluttony.... But what if it's an eating disorder? Or your neighbor just got a nice new car perhaps..." Wow, nice car.. a lot nicer than mine" ...Envy.... the list goes on and on, and on......Seemingly innocent comments or actions are seen as a sin.... maybe so 3000 years ago.......Not so much today.....

When these original laws or Directions were handed down, regardless of our Belief, times were vastly different. Most of the Planet was run by Kings, Pharaoh's, Emperors, etc... and the populace, even those in the employ of said leaders were impoverished or downright enslaved. At that point Man's laws came to rule our lives, whether we liked it or not. If we broke Man's laws we were punished quickly and in most cases severely. However in those times, breaking the laws of our Creator was also punished severely....Now as time progressed, Mans Laws have overpowered our Creators Laws. Our Natural freedoms taken away by Humans in power and Given certain freedoms, In some Countries and Beliefs more than others. Still by Man ! The World being what it is today, it would seem as though the Human race has forgotten the original Laws or Directions, thanks to one very important thing...Free will.... The strong were powerful, the weak were not. Since the beginning, there were those who decided that they had the authority to re-write these stories to suit their own purposes, and it happens in every Religious and Spiritualistic belief. We call these folks Radicals...Mostly zealots or despots who will do whatever needed to further their cause or belief....Again, changing the Creators rules or directions, again....Free will....

So, we here try and live our lives by the Religious or Spiritual Laws handed down to us within our belief systems, Great ! But, in my 53 years I have found that these Laws or Rules handed down by our Creators are more and more like Directions to our machine called LIFE.... In todays society, that's what they are it seems. A very complicated machine indeed. Like every complicated machine or anything for that matter that we must put together, comes with many, many parts... Have you ever assembled a complicated anything in your life? I'll bet you have.....How many times have you had pieces left over at the end ? " I wonder where that went" or " What's this for"?  Nobody and I mean nobody, has the whole story, Nobody, has it all put together without extra pieces..... We are all imperfect......Someday we may have all the pieces......But not today.........
