Welcome to the ULC Minister's Network

Pastor Richard ( Taz ) Pickett, OM, EM,

What's with our Youth ?

  • What is happening with the Youth of this Generation ? Or better yet, What is with the Parents Raising them ?

I ask these to important questions because, Cindy and I were out driving on Monday and happened to be following a School Bus. In the last two seats of the Bus were 3 young girls, by young I mean maybe 12 years old tops. I would put them between 10 and 12. All 3 turned in their seats, and the one ( drivers side) asile seat stuck out her tongue at us, Me more specifically. Now I remember doing this as a kid too, making funny faces and such. However she didn't just stick out her tongue. She made sexual gestures with it, while using her pinky and thumb in a telephone motion, mouthing the words " Call Me". This young girl did this several times while her 2 friends joined in. What has she and her friends been subjected to ? Have ethey been told that there are sick individuals out there that would take such gestures as an invitation? Have been told how many children have been abducted and sexually abused and murdered every year for less an invitation or none at all.

So who's to blame ? The 12 year old child ? The Parents ? How about Society as a whole ? Who would that young girls parents blame if a pervert followed that bus and found out where she lived, abducted, abused and killed her? Certainly they would blame the pervert right? I would, wouldn't you ? In their grief, and anger there would be no one else to blame. Oh maybe the Police for not protecting her, If they are of Faith, their Deity,or anyone else but themselves for not teaching them what is proper behaviour. That which is ok to do, and that which is not acceptable for nothing more than personal safety. Let's face it, this is not the 1940's 0r 50's any longer. This World has changed, and not for the better. The most precious gift we have are our children..... What do you think?

Pastor Richard ( Taz ) Pickett, OM, EM, I think it's two fold larry, Yes, the parents to a large degree, but Peer pressure and the need to fit in hurts as well. If good Parents teach their children well, yet peers steer them wrong, and parents are unaware, it's tough on the Parents to keep up....

Tony young Taz, I feel your answer is spot on. Both are to be blamed in this day and age. Parents expect the teachers and anyone else who will, to raise their kids
