Back to School

  • Hello my fellow thinkers and philosophers.

It is the time of year here in the United States where children are heading back to school. My prayers go out to all children, parents and teachers, not only for the safety of the physical body, but of the mental and spiritual bodies as well. I pray for protection from those things which may harm, attack, tempt and lure these people from their duties.

As parents, we want to believe we raised our children with the best intentions of helping them achieve a moral sense of responsibility.

As teachers, whether in the classroom or as teachers of life, we want to instill the value of the skill sets society requires us to survive.

As students, we want to please those around us but want to explore what is out there and prove we really can make it.

Though we will and do not always meet the expectations, just remember every second second of life is a new beginning, whether it is ourselves which need help or seeing someone else who needs it, we have obligations despite the differences we have, to help one another. We are called to support one another through not only the rough and tough times but, the good and happy times as well.

So, I give a charge to all of my brothers and sisters everywhere.

Parents, your children will make decisions which aren't so great and your job must always be a parent first and a friend second.

Teachers, when you see students struggle, help them as best and legally you can. We have all had that one teacher who took that extra moment to help us and whom we still remember because of the difference that person made in our life.

Students, that includes all of us, take advice given to you by those with experience. In fact, actively seek it constantly. This is how great ideas are born. We don't have to agree on what is given us but it doesn't hurt to hear from those who have gone before us. After all, we all knew everything until we realized we didn't.

Remember, it's okay to tell somebody they are making making a mistake or a not so great choice or decision, but we must do it in love and genuine concern and must be careful not to point out every little thing.  All things should be done because of, out of and for the love of our fellow man (and woman). This includes those who may wish to do harm to us.

Take care and have a blessed school year.

    John
