Judge Not

  • Judge not lest ye be judged. A phrase that rings as true today as it was at it's inception. Being a man of a multifaceted faith presents challenges to me when dealing with particularily zealous people from my past. It never ceases to amaze me when my staunch Catholic friends accuse others of being sinners. I've heard the statement, "He/She is going to Hell" more times than I'd care to have.... Almost like onlookers at the Roman Colosseum... so jealous of others for whatever reason that they want be privy to the eternal torment of another one of the Creator's children.
Judgement is not ours to dispense, it is the Creator's:

    • It is Pride that allows men (even Churches) to assume they know exactly where every soul will end up.
    • It is Wrath to wish eternal punishment on another, even if they "deserve" it.
    • Envy influences our anger against those who do not adhere to the same moral code as ourselves.
    • Our beliefs only affect our own final destination, they do not apply to other Brothers and Sisters. All spiritual pilgrims will find what they are looking for through perserverance.

I say to you again Brothers and Sisters, the next time you find yourself about to pass judgement on another soul... even in your mind... stop and reflect. Though a murderer or criminal may deserve to die by the logic of our societal systems, the Creator's plan is greater than we could hope to comprehend even with all we have been blessed with, and it is not our place to say what anyone "deserves" after death.
