A reprint of a post

  • This is a repost of an opinion I gave to both sides of an issue that has become way to bloated and scewed under the guise of "rights" vs "beliefs".

Ahhh yes, once again I stumble into true humanity. I personally believe that people just love to fight. That is evident by the mountains that are created out of mole hills. I will once again try to bring a little clarity to the fog bank that BOTH sides of this issue, (issue? I do not even know if this qualifies), this will be hard for both sides to understand because it involves putting away your hatred for one another and simply living the life that was given to you. Now, let's get the word "rights" taken care of first. You have the right to live. That is it. That is all that was promised. Anything else after that is what you make of it. You DO NOT have the right to tell someone else how to live, nor what to believe in. Now stop and absorb that, BOTH sides. Please, yell all you want. I do not care what your opinions are because they do not propose solutions, only bigotry. I do not care if you are gay, straight, single, married, (gay or straight), white, black, purple, ok you get the idea.
Organized religion, all of it, any sect, is a set of guidelines that like minded people follow. They believe in that, and no one has the right to force them to believe any other way. Example: People worship Satan and the evils it represents. Now that is my belief, Satan is evil. I will not have that in my house, nor will I in any way accept it in my life. I simply stay away from it.
Why would a gay life style, based on freedom and love, wish to involve itself with a rigid organized religion? Why not simply create a better one? Just as the straight community has no right to tell you how to live, just as I have no right to tell Satan worshiper how or what to believe, you have no right to demand that an organized religion accept something that goes against a core of its' belief.
Straight people also have no right to interfere with your life choices, or your pursuit of happiness simply because they tout some religious belief.
Gay community, stop trying to pick a fight and create your own religious experience. Why deal with the obvious limited view of the established organized religion?
Straight community: Offering services, housing , ect. to a gay person does NOT invalidate your religion. God does not give a damn about money. God wants to see peace and compassion. The rules you speak of so much were created by...wait for it...MAN. God simply wanted us to love and CARE for one another. Please, do not dare to attempt to quote what you call "scripture" to me. None of it was written by God. Now if you can produce a document in Gods' own hand writing...no? Like I said, God wants peace and compassion, oh, and a little show of intelligence once in awhile would be okay too.
I end this as I end most all things that I write.......GROW UP!

Brien DeMartino No, what do you suggest? Baseball bats? The one left standing makes the rules? That is what this is headed for. What the heck, let it happen. At least it will end the argument.

Brien DeMartino No my friend not touchy. Afraid. Afraid of what I see around me. Bigotry and dislike are once again occupying the thoughts of others. I guess it is an uphill battle with no answers. Peace.

Lloyd Hargrove It is good to not be shy of the potentially discordant opinions of others because by them we learn much about humans, as you say, Brien DeMartino. IMHO, any rights we might enjoy are limited to those which we ourselves assert and others representing the ...  more
