Abba

  • Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba, Father."  Galatians 4:6 NIV

A friend of mine was in a car wreck a few years ago, rolling her truck. She told her pastor's wife later she'd prayed from the moment of accident began. What was the prayer, she was asked. "Father, Father." She just kept repeating it the entire time. That's not a prayer. I was in trouble, she said, so I called for my Daddy. She wasn't really hurt even though the truck came to rest on its roof. She called to her Daddy and her Daddy came.

I know that many times, my Father has looked out for me - a place to live, a job, food, clothes... There was always a solution, no matter how hopeless the situation seemed to be. If I just managed to force myself to get out of His way, my path would clear. Do I live a charmed life? Of course not. GOD lets us move throught troubles and trials to strengthen us - to make us grow closer to Him. When we give up our will and our solutions which aren't really solutions, He opens a door for us.

I try to remember, to tell myself again and again, when I start to worry that my Daddy is bigger than any problem. He loves me. He will solve my problem His way. Abba, Father.
