We as a species are insane

  • What I am about to say is probably going to upset a lot of people. At this point in my life, I don’t care.

We are, as a species, clinically insane. We separate ourselves into “races” when there is only 1 species, humans. We separate ourselves by religion when all religions are essentially the same. We separate ourselves by our appearances, the variations that make ourselves unique. But we treat those of different variances as if they were completely different species of humans. There are many variants, but only 1 species. These things I will be elaborating on in this.

We are destroying the environment that is utterly essential for our survival. We poison the water that we need, we place toxins in the food that is essential to our survival and we drive to extinction the animals that we, as a species, need to ensure a balance in the environment that ensures our continued existence. What other species on our planet does this? Name just one. I know I cannot. Yet there is so much we claim to NEED. We “need” cars. We “need” money. We “need” electronics. We “need”......... Yet there those things, while they are very useful tools, are wants, not NEEDS. There’s a difference between want and need. But as with many things in this world, people’ve begun to wear blinders against the difference between the two.

We separate ourselves by “religion”. I’ve been looking at many, many various religions. We destroy each other, sometimes in mass-killings that include the young of our species, over an idea. Over a name, a belief, something utterly intangible that we cannot see, taste, touch or physically hear. When you look at them, however, all religions are essentially the same. They are meant to explain that which we cannot yet explain. To give meaning to the moments of nature in this world. Yet so many are so indoctrinated into the *We are right; they are wrong* mentality that people will kill without hesitation or remorse. People gain power through religion. Becoming not unlike kings and queens of old, but under new guises. They use this to sway people into thinking that these individuals are just and true even if those same individuals are telling them to harm those around them. If you look at almost all religions be it Judaism, Buddhism, Islam (Muslim), Taoism, Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Jehovah Witness, Christian, Protestant, Pagan, Druid, Heathen, ect, while they are different plants, they all come from the same set of seeds. Their cores are all the same thing. There is absolutely no difference in the very heart of what they are. Yet there are so very few who would be willing to hear that. Even fewer, still, who’d be willing to accept it as a fact. People are so determined that they are “right” that their minds, and their hearts, become closed against the core of the very belief they claim to follow.

We separate ourselves by “races”. Races? I didn’t know this was a contest. But here is a truth that is utterly irrefutable. One that, no matter who argues or what logic they claim to use to support their position, is a completely undeniable fact. There is only 1 race here, only 1 species. Humans. Now there are “Black” variants which are signified by the dark brown skin, there are “White” variants which are signified by pale peach or pink skin, there are “Red” variants who are paler in coloration than the “Black” but darker in color than the “White”, who’s skin takes on a more reddish hue, the “Yellow” variants which are signified by skin that is often a more olive or yellowish coloration, and there are many, many other variations of human on this planet. Blue eyes, Brown eyes, Green eyes, Hazel eyes, rarer ones with pink eyes or yellow eyes, those long hair, short hair, brown hair, red hair, white hair, yellow hair, etc. All these various differences. But it call comes down to one, undeniable and hard fact that so many have been indoctrinated since birth to ignore that it’s become ingrained into the depths of many people’s psyche. “If they are different, they are BAD”. Thusly, due to difference, people will hate and try to kill each other for difference. They will judge based by appearance. They will try to make laws to make “different” as being something that a human can be punished for. Those that make the laws will thing they are being just. But in those laws is the seeds of ingrained prejudice and fear, not justice. Not honor.

Then you’ve the sexual orientations that many “religions” scream about and many individuals turn to cruelty to try to prove that their views on them are the “just” ways. Gay, Straight, Bisexual, Transgender or simply abstinent altogether. People will cry “It’s unnatural!” “Nothing like that exists in nature, it’s deviant!” “It’s evil, a twisted mind!” I’ll tell you a hard fact. It’s actually very common in nature. These behaviors, that is. You look at all other species in this world and you will find it exists in one form or another. Changing sexual orientation from male to female or female to male? That can be seen in many aquatic and amphibious species. Gay behavior? That can be seen in many mammals and many varieties of birds. Bisexual? That can be seen across the board in many species from the lowly invertebrates both land and sea, to more complex beings like canines, felines, some birds, great apes, etc. So these are things that really DO exist in nature. That are real. They are as natural as breathing, eating or sleeping. True they do not procreate the species. But the “sexual behavior is for procreation only” is a completely human concept based on religious beliefs. Not based on natural fact.

We kill each other for these separations. We hate each other for it, we rip ourselves apart in self-loathing for it. We teach our young such behavior and then we wonder why, as a species, we are not moving forward in a direction that will ensure our survival. This is why I stated earlier that, as a species, we are clinically insane. Because we are self-destructing, self-destructive. There are those that see it. Those that try to put down the brakes to such behavior. But often those individuals are ignored or mocked for it. Even hated, cruelly treated and sometimes even killed for trying to do this. I ask to any who’ve read this far, why?

Now in this I also offer a challenge. However this is probably going to be one of the most difficult challenges, as well as the easiest challenge, any human has ever faced. Take off the blinders. Look into your own eyes in a mirror and tell yourself what you see in those eyes. See your own reflection there. Then, as you go out into the world, look other people in the eyes. Look at the world reflected in them. Try to tell yourself that this is not someone who is different from you, but is the same as yourself.

    Because we are all human.

If we are going to survive in this world in the far future we have to do the one thing we seem to be incapable of at the moment. Work together as a team to build for tomorrow. Not short term thinking, but long-term thinking. Because while so many see in the short term, it is the long-term we will be existing within.

Do not dig up the acorns before they can become trees.

Eric Inglesby In your opening statement, you said that you were going to upset a lot of people. I don't think that that is true. Everything you wrote is factual, not just your opinion. It was well stated.

Reverend Toby Ralls That was AWESOME! A rant or not it was truthful. Isn't the idea of believing in something what all of this is about? That we here on Earth didn't just appear, that there is a higher power of some sort? We should be more patient and loving and stop tea...  more
