Not my usual Rant

  • This is a break from my usual rants that I have. The times I "step onto my soap box".  Everyone here has been very supportive and I thank you.  However, this is not actually a rant, it's a mental exercise. I know we all have friends who are disabled in one form or another but, can you imagine what it would be like to one day wake up in a world of darkness? Can you imagine, even for a moment, never knowing what GREEN is... or what it is to look into the eyes of your favorite pet? Or never get to go stargazing? Just imagine for an instant what it would be like... to be sightless.

    The Voice of the Sightless

I need not light in which to see.
To read, my eyes are closed.
To know the flower’s exquisite beauty,
I need but touch the petal rose.

I have never seen a sunrise.
I have never seen a moon.
I have never seen a rainbow.
But, I know when change is coming soon.

It is true, I cannot see.
Yet, in truth, I am not blind.
For, my sight fools the unwary,
They seek to control me, to hem, to bind.

So, do not pity ones like me.
For, though it is true, sightless are we.
It’s a greater freedom WE live,
Than what your sight will ever give.
