The real meaning of: CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS-

  • Most people probably relate to 'cleanliness is next to godliness' as a term to keep your house clean....or whatever- clean and spotless.... My house and car are clean but not spotless or disinfected regularly....

But after reading many of Tony's blogs, I discovered in my spirit that this term or proverbial passage should really mean to live a proper, saintly if possible, life. Be A Good Person my dad always said. And he and mom were devout Catholics to-boot.

But I'm sure you know what I mean: live fully and generously to the underprivileged, give to the poor in person, be careful of charities or bums, however- don't get fooled. More examples could be- walk a little old lady across the road; support a child in school; love with all your heart; forgive if you find it in your heart; bestow kindness; show love; show trust in your mate....

I'm not done: hug someone who is sad; intervene in family problems, like a brother suffering from addiction; go to church; give up a parking space; hand a crying individual a Kleenex; offer a shoulder to cry on.....research mental illness.....

Can you think of any more examples? Get my drift?

Gary V. It helps, I'm just scared. I'm afraid of failure and of myself- I get impatient and stressed over people in society- not that I am any better than anyone- I just want to deal with good people and smart people.
I would chance another relationship I think- ...  more
