Welcome to the ULC Minister's Network

Reverend Stephen Gaarder

All scripture is inspired by God

  • Before I go forward with this blog, I want to establish that I do so not as a presentation of what is right and to be accepted as such by all who red it.  This is an expression of my faith as I see it for me and I do not expect anyone to accept it as ‘gospel’ because I do cite Scripture.  For those in this forum who will disagree, be offended by or take issue with what I present, do not be put off by what I write, move on and accept that we can agree to disagree on this presentation point.  I share these points of my faith so as to magnify my faith in God and hope to share this experience with other like-minded Christians.

I cite passages from Paul’s 2nd letter to Timothy to launch my entry into writing a blog.  For those that wish to share in this blog, it is accepted that I believe that the Bible is the Word of God and hope that those that share in this blog also share the same belief that the Bible is the Word of God.

     According to2 Timothy 3:16–17

16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

We will as evolving Christians and Ordained Ministers want to be equipped “for every good work” by doing that which “is inspired by God” as we walk the path of our lives.  But we will come upon challenges and how we approach them and move forward on our journey through our life’s path should be guided by Scripture.

    According to Paul’s 2nd Letter to Timothy ESV — 2 Timothy 1:6-14

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling,  not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. 13 Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you.

I believe that I serve in my ministry “by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling,  not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me.”  This is not to be boastful but a statement of my faith in God and my commitment to my ordination in the ULCM.

Let us be strong and empowered by our faith in God and our service to Him as we walk in his way.
