Matthew Stephen Abraham

The Final Crusade

  •

From Old Rome, they came a'riding

For the Cross with amour shining

Christian sons with hearts on fire

For the Christ and for the Lady

    Mothers, daughters, lives behind

The promise of heaven abound in their soul

The Passion of Christ alive in their heart

Body for body, blood for blood

The holy city upon a hill,

Wrecked and ravaged by the invaders

    Shrines defiled, and churches rent

    An unholy desecration

Silver and gold unadored in heaven

Reviled by the shield of St. Michael

No riches sought, no spoils desired

Only the Cross and only the shield

When Jerusalem mourned and waned for her soul

Her tears struck a knife in the heart of the warriors

And the fire of tongues breathed life to the swordThe men of St. Michael crowned in glory

For the glory of the Lord shall defend us in battle

The sins of the enemy shall be his bloodshed

Where once a man had sought peace and acceptance

So shall his heart turn to fire and stone

For no more can a man prick his finger

And watch his blood fall to the ground

Nor the innocent lives of his brethren be taken

Nor the throats of his priests be slashed

No more can the Cross be abused and defiled

No more can our children be tortured by fear

No more can our streets be riddled by bombs

No more can we walk the road to perdition

    Lord have mercy

    Christ have mercy

Lord have mercy, Jesus hear us

    Jesus graciously hear us

As we embark upon the Final Crusade

The battle upon which the Lord's men shall gather

In defiance of the abhorrant state

That awful day of Judgment and mourning

May the Lord grant knowledge unto our minds

May the Lord grant health unto our bodies

May the Lord grant fortitude unto our hearts

And grant a blessed eternity unto our souls

For we do not wrestle with flesh and blood

But we fight those of principalities and powers

We fight the prince of the power of the air

Our enemy is he who has fallen, he who is known as Satan

    Our crusade us one justice

One of liberty, and one of God

Grant not a thone unto those who create terror

But grant unto the Lord His just creation

Let the women pray and the children obey

Let the light of the Lord show us the way

Let the men who are willing take up their arms

And let this be the final crusade.

    Amen,

    Matthew
