  • Jesus: The Trustworthy Witness
    And from Jesus Christ,
    the faithful witness.
    Revelation 1:5 (NKJV)

Jesus is the Trustworthy Witness; He came to witness the message of the Father. You can trust Jesus, for He perfectly witnessed to the world what the Father wanted to be said. When Jesus identified Himself as being one with the Father, the Jewish religious leaders “sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God” (John 5:18). Jesus did what He was trusted to do, and He said what needed to be said. Jesus was a Trustworthy Witness in the face of death.

Lord, thank You for faithfully witnessing about the Father while on Earth. Thank You for faithfully witnessing to my heart the love of the Father for me.

Remember that the word “witness” is translated from the Greek word for martyr. Those who are killed for their faithful witness are called martyrs. The religious leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy because He faithfully witnessed to them about the Father—He was killed for His witness. Now He wants you to be a faithful witness for Him to the world: “You shall be witnesses to Me” (Acts 1:8). How will you witness for Him today?

Lord, because You died for me, the least I can do is to be a trustworthy witness for You. Help me be worthy of the trust you placed in me. I will faithfully tell others what You have done for me. You can trust me to be a witness of You and the Father who sent You. Amen.
