  • Jesus: The Son of God
    But these are written
    that you may believe that
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,
    and that believing
you may have life in His name.
    John 20:31

Jesus is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Godhead. That the description “Son” is used of Jesus does not mean that He is less than the Father. They are coequal and coeternal, and they share these attributes equally with the Holy Spirit. The phrase “Son of God” means that Jesus has the same nature as the Father and that He is the personification of all the character qualities of deity. Jesus is God; can you trust Him?

Jesus, I know that You are God, for only God can forgive my sins and transform my life. But I am concerned when the world doubts who You are.

People have always doubted the deity of Christ. Even a man on a cross mocked His claims of deity: “If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross” (Matthew 27:40). But Jesus didn’t respond to doubting criticism in the way that the world wanted. He showed His deity by performing miracles of compassion and by forgiving sin. The Holy Spirit will work in human hearts to show them who Jesus is (John 16:7-15). God expects people to respond to His love. Jesus expects people to respond to His invitation to be saved. Jesus is the Son of God, Creator, and Lord, and in the final day, He’ll be our Judge.

Jesus, I bow at Your feet, recognizing You as God. You are the Lord of the ages. I recognize you as my Lord this day. I worship You as the Son of God. Amen.
