The Trinity: Most High God (El Elyon)
But Abram said to the king of Sodom,
"I have raised my hand to the LORD,
the Possessor of heaven and earth."
The Lord is El Elyon, the Most-High God, a name that means He owns Heaven and Earth. He invites you, “Make the Lord your Refuge. Make the Most-High your Habitation. Then no plan by the Evil One shall overcome you” (Psalm 91:9-10). Then you can respond, “I will dwell in the secret place with the Most-High. I will abide under His almighty shadow” (Psalm 91:1). The Lord is El Elyon, the Most-High God, who can take care of you as He provided for His servants in the Scriptures. Look beyond your daily issues to heavenly things. He knows what will happen today and tomorrow and in the future. When you can’t see what’s happening, trust Him—His plans are much greater than yours.
Lord, I feel threatened, and sometimes I’m scared to death. Evil seems so strong in the world. Help me.
The Lord is El Elyon, “the Possessor of heaven and earth”; nothing happens without His knowledge. No one can take away your life until the time the Lord has appointed. Although He allows evil to run its course, the Most-High God has a plan for your life. He’s fashioning you according to His purpose. Behind the scenes, He works all things "together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Most-High God, I give my life to you; I yield to Your plans for this day. I look for Your protection; help me today. Amen.
