The Holy Spirit: The Spirit of the Lord
The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:2
The Spirit of the Lord is the Holy Spirit, who does the actual work in your heart for God the Father and God the Son. The “Spirit of the Lord” is a primary name of the Holy Spirit to reveal His character; in other words, who He is. When you think of the eternal nature of God, do not project onto Him human characteristics, as you would onto a physical being. Remember, “God is Spirit” (John 4:24), so the Holy Spirit is not limited. He can come minister to you anywhere, in any place and at any time.
O Spirit of the Lord, come make this day wonderful. Help me bring glory to the Father, Son and You, Holy Spirit.
The Spirit of the Lord is with all believers, so He will be with you. He will fulfill what Jesus promised: “I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, . . . the Spirit of truth; . . . He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17). You must believe the promise of Jesus and act on it. You must receive the Spirit of the Lord if you want Him to work in your life; but He can energize only what You give Him, so yield to Him today what You want Him to use.
O Spirit of the Lord, I give myself to You. Come fill me with a new zeal to be holy. Give me a new desire to serve You. O Spirit of the Lord, fill me completely, and use me. Amen.
The Holy Spirit does God’s work everywhere in all people.
