The Trinity: The Lord Is There (Jehovah Shammah)
The city from that day shall be:
THE LORD IS THERE (Jehovah Shammah).
The name Jehovah Shammah means the Lord Is There. The Lord is already in Heaven, where you will spend eternity. Ezekiel described the city where you shall live as Jehovah Shammah, a city of His presence. The most wonderful thing about Heaven is that the Lord will be there with you. Jehovah Shammah will meet you in the valley that has the shadow of death. From there, He’ll take you to the other side. We fear what we can’t see. So most fear death because they can’t see the other side. But remember, a shadow can’t hurt you; it can only make you hurt yourself. Don’t forget the promise, that God is with you in the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4). You’ll step into darkness and come out in the light on the other side. He’ll be there with you because He’s Jehovah Shammah. A shadow is the absence of light. The city where you’re going—the Eternal City—is constantly bright because God is its light. There will be no night there, which means no shadows. Neither will there be sorrow or death. To get there, you will step into the shadow of death and come out on the other side with the Lord.
Lord, give me confidence to live for You on this side of death’s shadow. Then help me step confidently through the shadow with You to the other side. There I’ll be with You, and it will be eternal light. Amen.
