Coffee Time with Jesus

  • Jesus: The Seed of Abraham
Now to Abraham and his Seed
    were the promises made.
He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many,
but as of one, “And to your Seed,”
    who is Christ.
    Galatians 3:16

Jesus is the Seed of Abraham. The heavenly Father promised a son to Abraham who would bless “all the families of the earth” (Genesis 12:3). Jesus was born the Messiah, the One who would take “away the sin of the world” (John 1:29) and bring in a Kingdom of righteousness (Luke 1:33). Because Abraham believed God’s promise, Isaac was born (Genesis 15:6). Eventually, millions of Jews were born into the world; Jesus was one of those Jews. By faith, Abraham knew that the Messiah would come from his seed. “Abraham rejoiced to see My day” (John 8:56), Jesus said. But Jesus didn’t come to bring salvation just to the Jews; He came to bring salvation to all the world. He brought salvation to you.

Jesus, thank You for fulfilling prophecy. Thank You for coming to Earth as a Jew. Thank You for dying for my sins.

Because Abraham was a man of faith who believed the promises of God, he looked forward to the birth of Jesus. But you too can be a person of faith. How? You must first look back on the history of Abraham to believe that the Father’s promises apply to you. Then you must look back to the work of Jesus on the cross and apply salvation to your life. Finally, by faith you must study the Scriptures and apply all its promises to your life.

Jesus, I believe what the Bible says about You. I trust my future to You. I know that You will guide my life and bless me this day. Amen.

God’s promise of a Messiah, made to Abraham, applies to me.
