In Philippians 4:8, it is written, ".. whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if there is anything of excellence or worthy of praise - let your mind dwell on such things..." Now let's take this as a standard and apply it to your life, entertainment, magazines, music, internet sites and television you watch. Are those soap operas, daytime and late night talk shows true and right? Imagine if television had a Philippians Network - how much of contemporary television could they broadcast? Are you sitting in front of that television and letting these things fill your attention, thoughts, heart and soul? Who knows how it's affecting your life; the bondages you may still be in, and the blessings you've never known. In fact, the very verse leads into a promise... those who dwell on the things of God, the peace of God will be with them. Do you want the blessing? Change the station. Turn off the junk. Turn on to the Word, the Presence, and the joy of the Lord, and your heart will always be tuned in to the shalom of God.
