Coffee Time with Jesus

  • The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit of Promise
Having believed, you were sealed with
    the Holy Spirit of promise.
    Ephesians 1:13

The third Person of the Trinity is the Holy Spirit of Promise. Jesus promised to send Him to the disciples: “When the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father” (John 15:26). Just as Jesus kept His promise and sent the Holy Spirit, so Jesus will keep every promise He’s made to you. He promised to take away your sin (John 1:29), to give you peace (John 14:27), to guide you through dark places (John 8:12) and to give you assurance of salvation (John 5:24). Jesus has a track record of keeping His promises, so rest assured that the Holy Spirit will also keep His promises to you.

Holy Spirit, Your presence gives me confidence to keep on trying. I know that Jesus has begun to do a good work in me; I know He will complete it (Philippians 1:6).

The Holy Spirit has promised to bring power to your life so that you can witness to the unsaved (Acts 1:8). Also, the Holy Spirit promised to give you victory in the hour of your temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13), to keep the Evil One from you (Matthew 6:13), to guide your life (Galatians 5:25), to give you spiritual ability for Christian service (1 Corinthians 12:1-7) and to produce Christian character in you (Galatians 5:22-23). All these things the Holy Spirit has done for others. What He has done for others, He can do for you.

Holy Spirit, thank You for reminding me that these promises are mine. I believe them, and I will claim them. Thank You for keeping Your promise to believers. Amen.

    Go Deeper: John 7:37-39

The Holy Spirit will keep the promises that He has made.
