The Holy Spirit came on Pentecost; the Feast of Fifty days. Its Hebrew name was Shavuot which means weeks. The Feast of Weeks or rather the Feast of Sevens. Shavuot refers to the seven weeks that began with Passover. That's very significant in Hebrew because the word 'seven' in Hebrew, doesn't just mean seven; it means promise, oath, swearing. When people would make promises and oaths, they would swear seven times. Shavuot - the Feast of Promises, Oaths, Swearing's - the Feast of the Promise of God, of God's Oath. The Holy Spirit is a surety of God's promise. Just as God swears by Himself in the Hebrew Scriptures, so He gives Himself the sign of His Oath, by giving the Spirit. He gives Himself as the Guarantee of His Oath. Pentecost/ Shavuot is the last great gift of God for this age. For His Spirit is the guarantee of His faithfulness. Sometimes you wonder if you can trust the Lord. He will never leave or forsake you. The guarantee is that He's given you His own Spirit. For God has given you Himself, His own Spirit as the very oath of His promise to you.
