Coffee Time with Jesus

  • The Father: The Very God of Peace
And the very God of peace
    sanctify you wholly,
    and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body
    be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    1 Thessalonians 5:23

When you search for peace, you’ll find its source in God the Father. You won’t find it in peace treaties, police protection or the United Nations. True peace, the Very God of Peace, must be poured into the hearts of individuals before it spreads to communities or nations. True peace happens when each person places God on the throne of his or her heart. When God rules the heart, a person gets peace over the compulsive lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Then the Very God of Peace spreads throughout your life as you make peace with others. When you find inner peace, it can spread to families, communities and countries. Also, a nation will experience peace to the degree that the Very God of Peace controls the hearts of all its citizens.

Lord, I want inner peace; come rule my heart. Help me influence others around me the way You’ve influenced me.

There will be wars and racial turbulence in the world. There will be interpersonal friction because people live for themselves. The Very God of Peace does not rule the hearts of the vast majority of individuals. But while people may not be able to change the whole world, they can change their own world. Some think they cannot change their families; but when they change their relationships to their loved ones, their loved ones are changed. Experience God’s peace, and then spread it to others.

Father, help me live Your plan of peace for my family and community. Help me do my part to be an influence for peace today. Amen.

    Go Deeper: Psalm 122

Your experience of peace can influence others.
