#St. John Chrysostom Saint of the Day Saint of the Day St. John Chrysostom St. John Chrysostom (347-407 A.D.) was born to noble parents in Antioch

#an important center of Christianity in his day. After the death of his father

#his mother sent him to the best schools for his education. As a result of his philosophical studies he was convinced of the truth of Christianity

#entered the Church

#and became a renowned scholar and orator. He then adopted a life of extreme asceticism as a hermit and committed the whole of Sacred Scripture to memory. The brilliance of his mind combined with the holiness of his soul made him famous; he was ordained a

#among the greatest in the history of the Church

#which earned him the name 'Chrysostom' meaning

#'Golden-mouthed' or 'Golden tongued'. His sermons

#which extended for up to two hours

#were public marvels. His straightforward style of preaching the Scriptures and his practical homilies made him very popular. He also denounced the abuses of the ruling authority and preached against the immorality of the day

#which resulted in him being exiled numerous times. He was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 451. St. John Chrysostom's feast day is September 13th.

#"Here I am." Then he said: "I am God

#the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt

#for there I will make you a great nation. Not only will I go down to Egypt with you; I will also bring you back here

We have a Guardian Angel who watches over us who is assigned by God himself. We do not know their names for God does not want us to know so that we can call upon our Guardian Angel for help.

Here is a prayer that you can pray and ask your Guardian Angel when you need him and also pray at bed time.

Angel of God, My guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side to rule and guide, Amen.

At bed time you can add this part also. My Guardian Angel, thank you for guarding me and keeping me safe from the snares of the devil and his evil doer's. Please guard me and guide me and protect me. With the Help of St. Michael the Archangel and Jesus Christ our Savior lock them in the pit of hell and seal the pit with locks and chains, in Jesus Name, Amen.

My Guardian Angel, thank you for guiding me and protecting me each day and helping me focus on our Lord Jesus Christ and stay in his heavenly graces. Please watch over me this night to get a peaceful nights rest. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
