Prayer, Patience and Virtue

  • May 10, 1919

Prayer is a Virtue given to us by God Himself.  Many times we pray and expect whatever the prayer maybe to be answered immediately.

Philippians 4:verse 6 tells us Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

When we pray for a healing for health or strength. or help in keeping our Faith in Christ, God does not always answer immediately.  We need to wait on him.  God answers prayer in his own way and time.

Some may get tired of waiting upon the Lord. Some just give up entirely because they lost their patience and let their faith go weak.  Wait upon the Lord in Faith, Strength and Tranquility.  He hears your prayer, he knows your frustrations. He wants us to LISTEN to him on what he says to us.

Some will say, Well I don't here him, he is not talking to me.  You have to open up your heart and mind.  God speaks softly. He does not talk to you out loud in a voice like when you pray and talk to him.

He tells us to wait patiently. It may take time for our prayers to be answered. One needs to discern the spirit of Lord.  Constant Prayer is essential to getting our prayers answered.

Sometimes we need to pray to the Blessed Mother Mary to intercede to the Lord on our behalf.  Praying the Holy Rosary also gets our prayers heard by Mary and the Lord.  Some say Well I just pray to God.  That is all well and Good.  Do you attend a Worship Service, or a Mass in the Catholic Church or in a Episcopal Church.

Do you spend a lot of quiet time in prayer and wait upon the Lord to talk to you.  Prayer is not a hocus pokes instant answer to your prayer.

Sometimes he tests our Faith and how much Trust we have in him. If you lack those qualities of Faith and Trust you need to seek spiritual guidance to regain your Faith and Trust in the Lord.

He puts us through tests to see if we keep the Faith and Trust in him or do you just give up.

I use to be that way at one time.  I sought spiritual guidance on how to properly pray and have patience.  Remember Patience is a Virtue. It is not something that comes out of the Blue.

Don't just pray and say ok God, I will wait for your answer.

1Thessalonians 5:17 tells us pray without ceasing. Not stopping your prayer. You need to continue your praying.

Phillipians 6-7  Be anxious for nothing. but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made know to God. and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Thank God each time you pray for hearing your request.  Give him praise and glory and honor. Don't just make your request known and not continue to pray and listen for him to talk to you or ignore him.

Patience  Patience remember this. Don't scream and holler Hey God why are you not answering me.

This does not get us anywhere when we ask God for Help or for a healing, or what ever the case may be.

Love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself.

God also tells us Love one Another as I have Loved You.  You need to let God know that you Love and Trust him and have Faith in Him.  FAITH is the Key!!! Without Faith you have nothing.

So go in Peace my friend. Love and Serve the Lord. And by all means be PATIENT! WAIT UPON THE LORD!
