The first friday in March is the Feast of the Way of the Cross (FWC). The Lenten season begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019. This year, FWC provides an excellent opportunity to prepare ourselves for Lent. I will begin the Lenten fast today rather than on Ash Wednesday. Fish fridays and abstaining from beer which is my typical drink of choice in favor of red wine which is the blood of Our Lord in his passion and death on the cross at golgotha. On each friday during Lent (and every day if possible) we should take the time to meditate on the 14 stations on the way of the cross, from Christ's condemnation of his being laid in the sepulchre up until Easter Sunday where we meditate upon his resurrection as well. May the gift of His precious blood cleanse us all! Blessed Lent!
