Made in His Likeness

  • Did you know, that each of us is made in the likeness of Almighty God? The spiritual creator of all things loved us so much, He made us a reflection of Him. What an awesome gift to know that we were thought of so highly by our Lord that our very appearance constitutes a direct link to God’s eternal plan.

Have you consider, for example, His providential care and kindness to all humanity? He has given us a beautiful world  filled with creation’s wonders, and the gift of eternal life to all who trust Christ as their Savior. But have you ever recognized that God also shows love by transforming believers into the image of His Son?

The Bible tells Genesis 1:26 that; “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” God created mankind in His likeness. Though that image was marred when Adam and Eve sinned, the Lord’s purposes were not in vain. Quite the contrary, before He had created anything, the plan for mankind’s restoration was already in place.

This is evident in 1 Peter 1:18-21 ”For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”

Jesus provided the means of salvation through His sacrifice on the cross. Everyone who trusts in Him is forgiven, reborn and adopted into the heavenly Kingdom of Almighty God. The Holy Spirit enters each new believer’s heart and begins the process of molding the renewed mind, body and spirit into Christ’s likeness.

Ultimately, God is glorified through His followers when the likeness of His Son is revealed in our character, conversation and conduct. As we strive to be an example to those around us, remember you were made as a reflection of Him for His glory, power and purpose. What an awesome gift from a loving God.
