Satan and Satanism...

  • I am a theistic spiritual satanist. I've been able to define and redefine this view of what it means to be a theistic spiritual satanist over the past year. Satan is still a main figure within worship, and I do believe in the manifestation of Satan in physical form as Lucifer and other deities. This could be a bit confusing for most. A big key to understanding is first to remove Christian cosmology from the picture. I do not believe Satan to have fallen from heaven. Satan in the Sanskrit language can be defined as the true unchangeable essence. He is more a force in the world but he has a personality so to speak. He is more of an aether, a spirit. Second I believe him to not be the only deity there is. Some have defined him as their all. This term is coined from the kybalion that speaks of the mind of the all, and the substantial reality of the universe. I believe this to be a little bit of a misnomer. Think of Atem, also known as Amen in Egyptian mythology. He is a part of Ra, and the word Atem or Amen Ra shows a part of Ra, but both Ra and Atem are not the only parts of the Egyptian Pantheon. Like Satan manifesting physically as the roman latin deity Lucifer, which means light bringer. In the roman pantheons there are other deities like Venus and Juno. Apply this principle to satanism and you have my version of how I see things as a polytheist. Satan is a key figure to my approach to deity and how I interpret scripture. But there are mentors in my life like buer who have been with me for several years now as well. It's not a matter of subservience to Satan as a main leading god, but more a respect process for something more independent. It is important in Satanism to come to terms and understand what Satanism is and isn't in your own terms and not centralize around organized structure so much that you lose sight of the bigger picture. Being a satanist does include respect for Satan's name to one degree or another, but also respect for earth and one's self as well.

peter Chamberland You are right. Daimon, in the original connotation of the greek language was meant to be a good positive thing. Read Plato;s Craytalus. Socrates makes the statement that when good men die they become daimons.
