When you start on the journey to your dream, there are many choices to make. The choices that you make often requires you to get involved in modern-day covenants. A modern-day covenant can be oaths of loyalty, marriages, or contracts. The covenants that we get involved in should not compromise our integrity. When entering into compromising modern-day covenants, there is no condemnation, but there may be a conviction.
Conviction is the act of convincing a person of error. For the Believer, we know that God will send signs to warn us that we are going in the wrong direction. For some Believers, He guides through scripture, and for others, it may be a song or random words of wisdom. God speaks to each individual based on their spiritual level.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Entering into compromising covenants means that you are willing to go against your belief system. These modern-day compromising covenants usually come with a hidden price to pay. It may damage your reputation for being honest and having high moral principles.
And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, He has identified you as his own.
During my spiritual training, I learned that most compromising covenants: require immediate agreement with a future dated promise, are too good to be true, or gives you an uneasy feeling.
The best way to make the right choices is to ask God to guide you and wait for His direction. God’s plan for us far outweighs any compromising offers. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
