Where Two or Three Gather

  • In the hush of dawn’s first light, where shadows softly flee,
A quiet call, a gentle might, stirs hearts in unity.
Not in grand cathedrals vast, nor temples carved of stone,
But where two or three are cast, His presence is made known.

Beneath the boughs of ancient trees, or in a humble room,
Where simple souls bend on their knees, dispelling doubt and gloom,
There Christ abides, a sacred flame, no distance can divide,
For in His name, they stake their claim, and He is by their side.

No need for pomp, no need for show, no gilded altar’s gleam,
The heart’s intent is all to know, where faith and love do stream.
A whispered prayer, a shared lament, a song of hope’s refrain,
In these, His spirit is content, His promise to sustain.

In fields where workers pause to rest, their hands worn by the day,
In homes where grief has been a guest, and joy seems far away,
When two or three lift up their voice, in trust or trembling plea,
His heart attends, His ears rejoice, their fellowship to see.

Through ages past, this truth has stood, unyielding to decay,
In gatherings small, yet pure and good, His love will find its way.
The widow’s sigh, the orphan’s cry, the friend who shares the load,
Wherever hearts in faith ally, His spirit makes abode.

No storm can rend this sacred bond, no darkness dim its glow,
For where His children stand or fond, His mercy’s sure to flow.
In quiet nooks or battle’s roar, in peace or bitter strife,
His presence lingers evermore, the pulse of endless life.

So gather, souls, with hearts sincere, though few your number be,
In love and truth, cast out your fear, and let your spirits free.
For where two or three unite in grace, invoking His great name,
There Christ Himself will find His place, and kindle heaven’s flame.
