Celtic Clergy: What Do You Wear to Officiate?

  • I'm a bit conflicted, I confess, about how to dress when officiating at various public rites.   These include house blessings, blessing of unions, eucharists, morning and evening prayer, special feasts.  Some of the examples of celebrant dress I have seen in my area are:

    • Suit and tie
    • Clergy suit with a dark suit
    • Geneva robe (think Bachelor's gown)
    • Suit with band collar
    • Cassock with surplice
    • An alb with stole
    • An alb with chausable
    • Monks robe with hood
    • Cloak and hood over a robe

Your suggestions for wearing various types of  celebrant attire would be much appreciated!

    Many blessings,

    Marc
