Forgetting to Look Up? You,re not alone!

  • Have you ever faced the unknown alone? Being alone is an awkward feeling. Most of us feel better when we face a situation in the company of those who make them feel safe and secure. When we are alone, fear sets in and anxiety is heightened. When we are alone, we feel uncomfortable. We feel safer when we are not alone. When Jesus spoke some of his final words to his disciples he was careful to make sure they knew that he would not leave them alone. In Matthew 28 he said, And Lo I am with always even unto the end of the world. Church ministries are difficult and frustrating, but they are much more rewarding when the The Lord is there. That's why Christ promised not to leave us comfortless, but promised the presence of God would always be with the people. In Old Testament times Israel knew God was there when they saw the pillar of fire by night and the cloud by day. They knew God was there whenever they saw the Ark of the Covenant. They were reluctant to take on any new pursuits unless they could assure that God would be with them. They believed this so much that King Saul went to a witch to consult Samuel to find out whether God would be with him in battle. As Christians, we have learned that any church is a church of power if the Lord is there. Without the Lord, a church is heater without fire, sugar without sweet, and water without wet. In all of our doing we should make sure that the Lord is there! Today, be a person of power because when you go, God goes with you.
